Missouri 2002

          For our first trip we chose Missouri. We planned to drive to Lake of the Ozarks, spend Friday night and Saturday there, then come home on Sunday. That idea was to plan nothing else and just enjoy the journey.

          Driving with the freedom of no forethought, although a romantic idea, doesn't work quite so well in practice. We found that if you aren’t aware of events in the area, such as the Missouri State Fair, where and when you can stop for the evening can be adversely effected, essentially eating up all your evenings and forcing you to drive well into the night.

          Scalped tires, rain, and a creepy hotel were just a few of the things we had to endure on this trip. It was a lesson in how NOT to plan a trip, but obviously we had enough fun to do it all over again the next year.
